Overview

Levin Times is an independent publication offering commentary, analysis, and a contributor newsroom. This policy explains the information we collect when you visit the site, create an account, apply to contribute, or use the newsroom.

Information we collect

• Account information: your name, email address, sign-in method, account status, and newsroom roles.
• Google sign-in information: if you continue with Google, we receive your verified email address, name, and a stable Google account identifier. We do not receive your Google password.
• Contributor information: application answers, editorial drafts, publication activity, and related review or audit records.
• Technical information: essential session cookies, request and security logs, device or browser information, and general usage information needed to operate, protect, and improve the service.

How we use information

We use information to:

• create and secure accounts;
• authenticate users and enforce newsroom permissions;
• review contributor applications and manage editorial work;
• publish, correct, and maintain publication content;
• detect abuse, investigate incidents, and protect the service; and
• understand and improve site performance when analytics are enabled.

Cookies

Levin Times uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and protect authentication requests. The site may also use limited analytics technologies when analytics are enabled. You can block cookies in your browser, but essential account and newsroom features may stop working.

Service providers and disclosures

We use service providers to host and operate the publication, including Vercel for web hosting, Supabase for managed database and media infrastructure, and Google for optional account authentication. These providers process information on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a reorganization of the publication.

We do not sell personal information.

Audience measurement

When enabled, Levin Times uses PostHog to measure anonymous page visits, article card impressions, article opens, active reading time, scroll milestones, completed reads, searches, referring channels, and outbound-link or share interactions. We use a random first-party browser identifier and do not send article bodies, search terms, names, or email addresses. Global Privacy Control and browser Do Not Track signals disable this measurement.

Retention and security

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide accounts and editorial services, maintain publication and audit records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service. We use access controls, encrypted connections, limited administrative privileges, and other reasonable safeguards, but no online system can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information associated with your account. Certain editorial, legal, security, backup, or audit records may be retained where reasonably necessary. To submit a request, email contact@levintimes.com.

Children

Levin Times is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
